Policy forum in Delhi was a great success

As part of its research dissemination activities, the SEZ project in collaboration with the Export Promotion Council for EoUs and SEZs (EPCES) of India held a policy forum on 26 March 2024 in Delhi, India.

The event was centred on the role of SEZ policy in the process of economic development with a particular focus on the South East Asian experience. A keynote speak was delivered by Chief Guest Mr. Shri L. Satya Srinivas, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India. Participants and guests included representatives of the Indian Government, government-affiliated institutions, the Indian business sector and the academic sector.

Professors Holger Görg and Ari Kokko introduced the SEZ project, followed by project members presenting their research findings on SEZs in India, Vietnam, South Asia and Africa. Further, Professor Aradhna Aggarwal announced the publication and briefly presented the contents of her new book “Special Economic Zones in South Asia. Structural Change, Competitiveness and Growth”. The event concluded with a panel discussion where panelists discussed the growth potential of hard and soft infrastructure developments related to SEZs.
